The history of greeting cards can be traced back to the ancient Chinese and Egyptians. The Chinese shared messages of hope and good will to celebrate the New Year. The Egyptians used papyrus scrolls to exchange greetings. By the 15th century handmade greeting cards were being exchanged in Europe.
Greeting cards are a simple yet effective way to communicate to others a simple message of love, hope, encouragement or celebration. A personalized card can add that extra touch to make your loved one or friend feel special. All you need are a few watercolor paints and a piece of paper.

Idea #1 : Simple Balloons. Paint a few oblong circles, make sure to leave a small space white to create the highlight. Add a few thin strings to the bottom of your balloons. Then top off your card with a few splatters for a fun effect.

Idea #2 A simple cupcake. Start with sketching and then painting the cupcake wrapper. Then add an oval on the top for the cake and top that oval with icing. Make sure to add a candle and some splatters for Happy Birthday Design.

Idea # 3 A Simple Happy Birthday is all you need! Start by placing painters tape around the edge of your card and use two pieces to place in the middle of your card. Cover the background with clean water. Using the wet on wet technique, choose two colors and place them however you please and let the water colors mix and do their thing! Cover with salt and let it dry. Once it is dried, remove excess salt and the two pieces of tape. In the white spaces write Happy Birthday. Remove the rest of the tape and go celebrate!
