Spread the Holiday Cheer with a homemade Christmas card! This super simple, yet festive card will help get you and your loved ones get into the Holiday spirit. Easy to paint and fun to

create, this simple Christmas Card will only take a few minutes to make.
I personally love to use watercolor paint when making homemade cards, but please feel free to use whatever medium you are most comfortable with. This post it meant to inspire you to create your own cards while adding your own artistic touch.
As Christmas approaches and the temperatures drop, painting is a relaxing and fun way to to stay warm on a chilly day. Why not paint something that you can utilize at the same time? Handmade cards are a special way to say to let your friends and loved ones know you care.
What will you need to make this card?
SUPPLIES:
Clean water cups - for cleaning your brush in between colors
Water color paints - I used my Winsor and Newton Cotman Watercolors -Sap Green, Emerald Green, Red, and Gold
Round Brushes - size 6
Paper towel - to clean off brushes
Watercolor Paper - Folded into your desired size.
Pencil - for sketching
Painters Tape - to create Text Boxes and use to trace circles
STEP 1:
Prepare Your Card
TO prepare you card first place tape in your desired spot to create a text box. I created one for the word Merry and a larger box to write Christmas in. Next I just used my roll of tape and traced 4 circles on my card. I made sure to draw a few over the tape, to give my card some dimension.
STEP 2:
Paint Over Traced Lines
I used my gold paint for this part. And simply took the gold paint and traced over my circles to create a base for my wreath.
STEP 3:
Paint Pine Needles on all Circles
Paint small strokes all around the circle to create pine needles. Use the tip of your brush and don't apply a lot of pressure. Let the brush paint for you.
STEP 4:
Paint Pine Needles with Darker Green
Using a darker green, repeat step 3. This will add a but of dimension and color to your wreaths.
STEP 5:
Paint Simple Berries
Once the wreaths have dried, take some red paint and with the tip of your brush add some berries to the wreaths. I tend to paint my berries in groups of three, but add as little or as many berries as you like!
STEP 6:
Trace the Tape
Using the Gold paint, trace around the tape to create your text boxes. I love adding this detail, a s gold is so festive and it helps make the greeting stand out on the page.
OPTIONAL: Add some gold splatter!!
STEP 7:
Remove the tape
Carefully remove the tape by pulling at a slight angle. Once the tape is removed, it should look like a text box. For my smaller box, I waited until i removed the tape to connect the sides, so they would look even.
STEP 8:
Write the Greeting
Now that your card is complete, you only need one more thing; the greeting! In the text boxes you created write either Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays or whatever Holiday greeting you wish to share with your friends and loved ones!
This simple yet festive Christmas card will surely bring a smile to anyone's face. Be sure to address and sign your card before you share it :) Feel free to add any other details you wish to personalize your card. I hope you enjoy making this card!
Happy Painting!!
